Please Welcome Our New CEO, Drew Becher!
We're pleased to welcome Drew Becher, a seasoned and respected executive in park planning and philanthropy, as the new CEO of the Parks Alliance. He starts on Monday, March 13th, 2017!
Drew’s outstanding qualifications include more than 20 years of experience in national and regional park planning, advocacy, and philanthropy. He most recently led the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society as the President & CEO, and was previously the Executive Director of the New York Restoration Project. In Washington D.C. he led notable city planning initiatives as the Deputy Director of Office of Planning and Associate Director of the Department of Parks & Recreation. In Chicago he served as the Chief of Staff of the Chicago Parks District. As a civic and non-profit leader, he is known for his ability to scale organizations, fundraise, and execute transformative projects for world class cities and organizations.
We have tremendous enthusiasm and confidence in Drew’s capacity to build on our many valued relationships with the teams at Recreation and Parks, the Department of Public Works, Department of Planning, the Port of San Francisco, City Hall and our extraordinary network of Park Partners. Together we are committed to projects like the LetsPlaySF! capital campaign to provide clean, safe and imaginative playgrounds for every child and family in San Francisco, visionary efforts such as the Blue Greenway and countless ongoing stewardship and beautification projects throughout San Francisco.
On behalf of the Board and Staff, we extend our deepest appreciation and respect for the tremendous leadership Rachel Norton, Director of External Affairs, has shown our organization over the past three years and specifically during the seven months she served as our Interim CEO. Thank you!
Please join us in welcoming Drew - we know he looks forward to meeting his new parks community in San Francisco.
