Commemorative Benches Creating a place to pause, rest, and reflect
We appreciate all interested parties patience while we restart the Commemorative Bench Program. In partnership with the Recreation and Park Department, we are ready to re-launch a new and improved program.
We will re-launch the Commemorative Bench Program in three phases:
Phase 1: Contact previous donors.
To open up inventory and provide donors with their first right of refusal, we will reach out to previous donors who have lapsed bench contracts and offer them the opportunity to renew their donation.
Phase 2: Contact waitlist.
Once all previous donors are contacted and given time to respond, we will reach out to everyone on our waitlist and begin processing donations for new plaque installations. We appreciate the continued patience of all donors on our waitlist.
Phase 3: Open program to everyone.
Donors who are not currently on our waitlist are encouraged to contact the Parks Alliance to inquire about availability.
• At this time, the program will provide for the installation of commemorative plaques on existing benches located in parks managed by the Recreation and Park Department (RPD).
• Plaques will be installed in Golden Gate Park or Marina Green with a donation of $5,000. In other neighborhood parks run by RPD, plaques will be installed with a donation of $3,500.
• Commemorative plaques will be installed for a period of 10 years, at which point donors will have the first right of refusal to renew their contract with a new donation.
Prospective donors are encouraged to identify 2-3 available benches in advance to speed up the process.
