The former PG&E Power Plant is undergoing significant soil and groundwater cleanup, and is now in the final phase of the overall remediation. Interim activation by NOW Hunters Point, launched in 2013, seeks to transform this former industrial landscape into a thriving community space. The current pop-up community space hosts regular neighborhood events, and hires local youth as program hosts. The next phase will include a public plaza, native plant landscaping, and a waterfront trail connecting to adjacent sites. In the long term, the site will be redeveloped and more expansive open space will be considered.
