Party for the Parks

P4P13

San Francisco Parks Alliance will host a western-themed, benefit evening for the City’s parks at Bercut Equitation Field, off Chain of Lakes Drive in Golden Gate Park, on Saturday, September 7, from 6PM until 11PM.

Tickets are available from $250 (per ticket); Patron levels start at $1250 (for two persons).

Lana Adair, Connie Goodyear Baron, Leith Barry, Nancy Conner and Tricia Sellman serve as event chairs.

This festive benefit for park lovers will celebrate San Francisco’s parks in the wild, western end of Golden Gate Park. During cocktails, guests will be entertained by a bit of bluegrass, roping, and riding, with a special appearance by the Mounted Park Police.

A tented buffet under starry skies follows, with best of the west fare by McCall’s, music by American Jubilee, and dancing to a top Bay Area DJ. Complimentary valet parking will be available. Western Chic attire is appropriate.

Bercut Equitation Field was created in the 1940s as Horseman’s Retreat. Renamed in 1959 for well-known horseman, gardener and Park Commissioner, Peter Bercut, this riding ring served for years as a place to practice horsemanship. City parks, playgrounds, playing fields, and natural areas are significant contributors to our pleasure of life in San Francisco.  Last year, funds raised by Party for the Parks installed recycling containers in Golden Gate Park, an automatic ventilation system in the Golden Gate Park nursery, and supported San Francisco Parks Alliance’s efforts to connect people with parks.

Special thanks to our patrons, hosts, and sponsors who all contributed to the parks, recreation, and open spaces we love.
