Dogtoberfest a Barking Good Time
About 300 dog owners and their canine friends came out to celebrate October with costume contests, an agility course, and lots of treats! Miles the big white dog dressed as a bumblebee was probably the muddiest of all and showed off the need for a whole new playfield. I'm sure he is excited that the City is scheduled to renovate the turf and drainage in January with funds from the 2008 Parks Bond and a match from neighborhood fundraisers such as Dogtoberfest. The milk dog was one of my favorites!
Bill Weil with Friends of Upper Douglass Dog Park said, "Over the years Dogtoberfest has paid for a water fountain, the fence and gate at the entrance and matching funds for a Community Opportunity Fund grant. This year the money raised will go toward starting reforestation of almost 200 trees in the park that are all over 60 years old and have been neglected."
We can't go without showing off a couple more costume winners!
