Excelsior Community Action Grants

A joint initiative between the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development, the Excelsior Collaborative and the Office of Supervisor Ahsha Safaí, the Excelsior Community Action Grants will award up to $5,000 to new projects that directly serve the Excelsior and align with the goals laid out by the Excelsior Collaborative. Community Action Grants

Grants of up to $5,000 are now available to improve the quality of life and involve community members in their neighborhoods. These grants are available to community members in the Ocean View, Merced Heights and Ingleside (OMI) neighborhoods. Funds are provided through the Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development and the Office of Supervisor John Avalos, and are managed by the San Francisco Parks Alliance. The grants will put funds into the hands of community members to accomplish the following objectives:

  • To quickly generate improvements in the quality of life within the OMI community. Examples include tree planting, beautification, signage, or artwork projects.
  • To involve a diverse array of your fellow neighbors and community groups in improving life within the neighborhood. Examples may include block parties, concerts, safety and health fairs, or cultural events.
  • To establish unique, original programs in the community. Examples include new youth, sports or recreation, education or art programs.
