Complete with tennis and basketball courts, a baseball diamond, children’s playground, and picnic areas, there’s no shortage of activities at Holly Park.
Perched atop Holly Hill, this park features spectacular panoramic views of the West Bay.
It’s just a bit off of Cortland, so it’s a nice place to relax with a coffee or a sandwich. Great views and lots to explore in this little park with a playground and a ball field. – Kearstin Krehbiel
Established in 1870 by James Fair, Holly Park was deeded to the city, and improvement began in 1887. Since then, there have been numerous improvement projects in the park. Most recently, Eugenie Marek headed efforts to revitalize the park.
In 2001, the Neighborhood Parks Council (which later became the SFPA) began an initiative to plant thousands of bulbs in parks in remembrance of those lost in the September 11th terrorist attack. Holly Park was one of many sites that honored those who were lost with bulbs.
